HEDENDAAGSE STILLEVENS
‘Het onbekende verleden van een oud object, de aandacht waarmee het gemaakt is, en gebruikssporen inspireren mij.
Soms raak ik ook geïnspireerd door bepaalde aspecten van voorwerpen en creëer daarmee nieuwe, niet bestaande objecten.
Ik creëer graag bijzondere composities. Tijdens het schilderen experimenteer ik voortdurend met contrast, licht, details en kleur, tot het werk de sfeer en dynamiek heeft die ik zoek.’

CONTEMPORARY STILL LIFES
'The mysterious past of old objects, the attention with which they are made and traces of use form a fascinating starting point for me. Sometimes I am inspired by certain details or elements of objects and create new, non-existent objects.
I love to experiment with the concept of still lifes by omitting the environment or by, for example, cutting objects in half.
While painting I constantly experiment with contrast, light details and color, until the work has the atmosphere and dynamic that pleases me.'

MUSEA EN AWARDS
Debora Makkus (autodidact) heeft ruim 35 museumexposities gehad en exposeert regelmatig in het buitenland. Zij had de eer om awards te ontvangen in Taipei, Bologna en de publieksprijs in MUSEUM GOUDA tijdens de Salon 2019. In 2023 werd Debora Makkus door het publiek genomineerd voor 'Kunstenaar van het jaar 2024'. Haar werk maakt deel uit van vele (internationale) collecties.
MUSEUMS AND AWARDS
Work by Debora Makkus (self thaught artist) was on show in over 35 museum exhibitions and she had several shows in Asia. She had the honour of receiving awards in Taipei, Bologna and the Public Choice Award at MUSEUM GOUDA at the Salon 2019. In 2023 she was nominated by the public for the Dutch 'Artist of the Year' award. Her work is part of many (international) collections.

Als autodidact heeft Debora Makkus een eigen techniek ontwikkeld. Ze bouwt een werk op uit 40 a 50 laagjes (semi)transparante verf, wat bij verandering van lichtinval een ander kleureffect geeft.
As a self thaught artist, Debora Makkus has developed her own technique. She builds a painting with 40 to 50 layers of (semi) transparent paint, which results in a different color effect when the light changes.
